follow: go or come after (a person or thing proceeding ahead); move or travel behind.
follow Me to the bahamas. follow Me to mc. follow Me to run. follow Me in your school work. follow Me in your friendships. follow Me as I teach you knew things. follow Me to africa.
follow Me out of captivity.
captivity: the condition of being imprisoned or confined.
imprisoned by my thoughts. by sins since childhood. by my pride. by my discontentment. by my anxiety over my future.
know Me. & I will set you free. (john 8:38)
I’m stuck. I’ve been in this for so long. the black roots in my heart are too deep. I try to fight but I never seem to win. the enemy has control over me.
no, My child. you are Mine. I will fight your battles. cling to Me. follow Me. I will set you free. I am opening your prison doors. (Isaiah 61:1)
but it’s still so hard. I see Your promises. I believe they are true. but the lies are still screaming at me each day. help!
I have chosen these struggles for you. they are here to refine you (1 peter 1:6-7). but even after everything the enemy has put you through, I will lead you out of this captivity with plunder! you will come out of this time of imprisonment with more than you possessed before (exodus 12:35-36). I am refining you. I am using your past, your sins, your failures to make you holy. to make you an oak of righteousness, firmly rooted in My truth. all so that you will reflect My glory back to me. (isaiah 61:3).
Abba, I have so much to learn.
yes! yes you do! begin with a fast. a fast to empty yourself of other pleasures so that you will be filled with something that only I can give. a fast from comfort, ease, water pressure, air conditioning, comfort, familiarity, convenience. an emptying of your pleasures to find the satisfaction of your desires. Me. (isaiah 58:6,11). follow Me to africa. the lessons you must learn will begin much sooner than your plane ride. for you must see your captivity & see the freedom that I offer. you must see that I am God & there is nothing that can satisfy you like Me. (isaiah 43:11).
Father, I will obey. but I need Your strength. I believe, but help my unbelief (mark 9:24).
trust in Me. set Your mind on me. I will keep your mind in peace (isaiah 26:3). put My truth in your heart so that you will not fall back into captivity. replace the enemy’s lies with My truth (psalm 119:11). soon you will find that obedience to my commands brings you peace & the fruit of peace is joy (isaiah 32:17; john 15).
You have shown me Your grace. You are bringing me out of captivity. You are healing my heart & making it new. I do not fully understand everything that is going on inside of me & around me. but I will trust because You are trust-worthy.
I will follow.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace & joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God & receives human approval. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace & to mutual edification.
